TEENS

 

Make your energy and enthusiasm work for you with tools and techniques that will prepare you for the world of professional, collegiate and real-world acting experiences.

Led by professional, working actors, Verve classes contain a combination of exercises, observation, coaching and self-critique.   The student actor will push past her previously set limits and will leave each class with confidence of skills learned and with next steps outlined and detailed.

In addition to developing and coaching acting talent, Verve also assists students take the next steps in their careers with coaching for agency meetings, auditions and booking jobs. 

Upon completion of the Teens Curriculum, students will be well-rounded in the craft, technique and the business of acting.

Verve Studios’ Teen Classes and workshops are open to serious students ages 13-17 and are limited to 10 students per class in order to give each student individual attention.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS



The Teens Curriculum is a fall and winter semester plus a summer film camp.  With scripts and content changing regularly, these classes should be taken on an on-going basis.
Each student will progress at his/her own rate.


Fall Semester – Technique
The class meets every Monday for 8 weeks and provides Teens a place to practice and learn acting technique.  Curriculum includes Technique, Script Analysis, Monologues, Improvs, Scenes and Character Development. This class is essential for students with only theatre experience wishing to start working in film and television as well as for those students already working as a place to hone their craft.

DATES: Mondays, October 17- December 12, 2011
TIME: 4-6 pm
INSTRUCTOR: Amanda Melby

Winter Semester – Technique (On-Camera)
The class meets every Monday for 11 weeks and provides Teens a place to practice and learn acting technique.  Curriculum includes Technique, Script Analysis, Commercials, Film and On-Camera presence work, plus The Business (agents and casting directors). This class is essentail for students wishing to get agency representation.

DATES: Mondays, January 23-April 2, 2012
TIME: 4:30-6 pm

PRICE: $500 (or three payments of $190)

Accents and Dialects

Each workshop concentrates on a specific dialect or accent.  In week one of the course, fundamentals are taught and the put into action in week two.  Accents/Dialects taught include: Standard British, Cockney, Irish, American Southern, Italian, German, Russian, New York, Brooklyn, and Boston.

Film Acting Summer Camp

During this camp, you will not only learn about acting on film, you will act on film! From auditions to wrapping the production, you’ll go through the entire process of participating in a digital short film, all in an educational, instructional and fun environment.  You’ll learn character development, acting skills, camera technique and the differences and similarities between stage and film acting.  Class is limited to 8 participants; the script is written specifically for the students enrolled.  A DVD of the completed short film will be provided to the student after the conclusion of the camp.

INDIVIDUAL STUDY

Private Ongoing Acting Lessons
These one-on-one weekly lessons are for actors who desire undivided attention and coaching. Course work can include any of the above Group class topics, and also career guidance and monologue coaching. One month commitment required, customized to fit the student’s needs.

This is a great way for beginners to get aquainted with the studio, coaches and techniques taught.

LEVELS: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced
DATES: Monday-Saturday, arranged with student and instructor
TIME: 10 am - 6 pm, arranged with student and instructor
INSTRUCTORS: Jennifer Pfalzgraff and Amanda Melby
PRICE: month to month, paid in advance of month*, $45/60 minutes • $40/45 minutes
REGISTER: Online or mail in form with $25 deposit (refundable up to 48 hours before start of 1st lesson.)



Private Acting Coaching
Single session private coaching is also available for those students who wish to prepare for an upcoming audition or who just need a short session rather than on-going lessons. Focus can include: monologues, audition preparation, and career guidance.

DATES: Monday-Saturday, arranged with student and instructor
TIME: 10 am - 6 pm, arranged with student and instructor

PRICE: $65/60 minutes • $90/90 minutes, by appointment, paid before session
REGISTER: Online or mail in form with $25 deposit must be received before the session in order to reserve the session (refundable up to 48 hours before session.)
